Gel nails are made with a premixed polymer and monomer gel and there are types: light cured gel nails and no-light cure gel nails. |

Light cured gel nails are more common and use ultraviolet light to cure the gel while no-light gel nails are cured with a special gel activator that can be sprayed or brushed on. |
Gel nails are very natural looking and glossy compared to other types of cosmetic nails. Monthly maintenance is necessary but without removal. Acrylic nails are a mixture of liquid acrylic and powder acrylic which hardens on it's own relatively quickly. |
Acrylic can be used over the entire nail or just as tips and comes in a variety of colors and designs. If not applied right acrylic nails can damage your natural nails and favor infections, but if applied correctly they pose no threat. Monthly maintenance is also necessary. |

| Gel and acrylic nails have almost the same results. It depends on what you think works best for you. If you can't make up your mind talk to a nail technician to help you make a decision that fits your needs. |
