How many times have you bruised yourself by bumping into stuff around the house and you couldn't wear a skirt, a pair of shorts, a sleeveless shirt or a dress because of the ugly marks?
It happens so often and it is really annoying having bruise marks on your skin.
A bruise appears when trauma is caused on the skin and muscles, causing blood to surface the skin. The blood which surfaces the skin will give the dark coloration of the bruise.
People bruise differently, some bruise very easy while some hardly bruise at all.
There can be many causes to why people bruise differently and one of the causes can be the lack of vitamin C in the body.
Vitamin C is an essential vitamin which helps with collagen formation, helps protect and strengthen blood vessels. If there is a deficit of vitamin C in your body, you are more likely to bruise since the blood vessels are weaker and can be traumatized easier.
To minimize bruising or speed up the healing process of bruises you need to take the following tips into consideration:

As soon as you injured yourself and you can expect a bruise to form apply a pack of ice on the area.
Do not apply the ice pack directly on the skin, but wrap it into a towel or a cloth to avoid skin damage. Remove the ice pack every 10 to 15 minutes to allow your skin to warm up.
Let the skin warm up naturally and place the ice pack back. Keep doing this throughout the day or for as long as possible.
The cold given off by the ice will help constrict the traumatized blood vessels, thus minimizing the amount of blood to reach skin surface.

Make sure you get your daily intake of vitamin C. Vitamin C is essential for strengthening the blood vessels, making it less likely to develop a bruise especially for people who bruise easily. If you don't think you get enough vitamin C from your food, you can try vitamin C supplements. Make sure you do exaggerate with your vitamin C intake because more doesn't mean better.

Mask your bruise using makeup. Makeup has been used to cover up all sorts of skin problems, so it can be used to cover up bruises as well.
Apply a concealer on the skin, apply a touch of foundation and blend the area thoroughly to make the transition from the area with foundation to the surrounding skin less visible. Set the foundation on with translucent powder and your bruise will be covered up. Take your make-up kit with you in case any touch-ups are required.
Bruises can also appear due to physical effort. Exercising can cause tiny tears into your blood vessels therefore leading to bruising.
Take care of your skin and it will look beautiful and flawless. |
